Authorities in France reported that an intoxicated burglar who returned to the scene of his crime ended up stuck inside the hole he created in a window. (I mean, of course.)

Here he is, in all his glory:

The Gendarmerie of the Pyrenees-Atlantiques explained in a Facebook post that police were dispatched to a store after a break-in was reported on Wednesday night, but the suspect fled the scene before their arrival.

They were then called back to the store in the early hours of Thursday morning, where they discovered the robber intoxicated, his body stuck in the window.

Investigators searched the unfortunate burglar's home, discovering items he stole from his first go-around. The Gendarmerie noted it was unclear why the man returned to the scene a second time (honestly, why? That whole "never return to the scene of a crime" warning clearly exists for a reason).

Firefighters were called to the scene to free the man from his glass captor, and police said the robber would spend a few hours sleeping off his buzz in a "drunk tank" before being questioned.

Let this be a timeless lesson to us all: if you have a big idea when you're drunk, sleep on it.
