Top-ranked Overwatchteam Rogue have Watch Vidocq Onlineexpressed their annoyance with Major League Gaming for not inviting them to the upcoming Overwatchtournament at MLG Vegas. The $100,000 competition is taking place in the Steve Aoki-owned team's city, Las Vegas.
MLG Vegas is a two-day competition and esports celebration that will frun Dec. 16-18. Eight teams were selected to participate in the Overwatchtournament, two of which are foreign teams.

Since people are asking. Yes, we're a Las Vegas based org. Yes, we have the best results in OW. No, @MLG did not invite us to MLG Vegas.

Rogue founder Frank Villarreal added that it was "pretty damn [ridiculous]" that Rogue didn't get an invite given their Las Vegas location. Villarreal also pointed out that Faze has only competed as a European team -- just like Rogue -- so region lock wasn't the issue.
@Rogue_Frank @GoingRogueGG @MLG I told you that 8 teams were already invited but said I would look into it. All 8 accepted.

Adam Apicella, head of esports operations for MLG, responded to Villareal with an explanation. It was an oversight, a product of the team's recent relocation to the United States.
@GoingRogueGG @Rogue_Frank @MLG We did not know you moved to the US until after 8 NA invites were distributed.

Fans are sympathizing with both sides.
@Thr330h5 @MrAdamAp @Rogue_Frank @GoingRogueGG @MLG I'll be honest I didn't even know Rogue was NA based. The OW team always represented EU.

Mashable reached out to MLG for clarification on when invites went out and the criteria used to select teams.
In addition to the Overwatch competition, MLG Vegas will also feature a $100,000 Call of Dutytournament and an esports festival featuring surprise guests, live music and more. You can tune in December 16-18 via Twitch or MLG.
